Cards for Kids celebrates its 10th year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. —This year, University Hospital celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Cards for Kids fundraiser to benefit pediatric cancer care.

Since 1996 University Hospital has raised more than $60,000 from the sale of greeting cards created by Central New York children who are being treated at the hospital's Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders.

The money raised has help fund patient programs and patient amenities at the center. "We are blessed that the support for this program has been so significant and so broad," said Bonnie Toms, who is organizing the fundraiser this year. "We take orders from all over Central New York, from individuals and corporations."

This year's Cards for Kids offering features 12 brightly colored holiday greetings cards designed by children who are being treated at University Hospitals' Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. All cards are imprinted with the greeting "Wishing you Peace, Hope, and Happiness this Holiday Season." The back of each card lists information about the artist, including name, age and diagnosis. Cards are available in three different packages ranging in price from $15 to $20. To place an order or receive an order form, please contact Mandy Trudell at 315-464-6133.
