Richard J. Kilburg appointed associate administrator for Ambulatory Services at University Hospital

SYRACUSE, N.Y-Richard J. Kilburg has been appointed associate administrator for Ambulatory Services at University Hospital. Kilburg has served in this position on an interim basis since December 2005. The appointment was announced by Phillip S. Schaengold, J.D., MBA, chief executive officer of University Hospital and senior associate dean for Hospital Affairs in the College of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

In this position, Kilburg will oversee University Hospital's extensive system of ambulatory services and outpatient clinics, including the Breast Care Center; Neurology; Dental Services; Perinatal Center; Women's Health Services; Medicine Firms A, B, & C; Joslin Diabetes Center; Ophthalmology; Cardiology; Surgical Specialties; Urodynamics; Communications Disorder Unit; Transplant Clinic; Endoscopy; the Designated Aids Center; the Regional Oncology Center; and Radiation Oncology.

A member of the SUNY Upstate professional staff since 1984, Kilburg most recently served University Hospital as director of operations for the Regional Oncology Center and for Radiation Oncology, where he coordinated and oversaw the design and development of two new radiation oncology clinics.

He also played a key role in implementing the Radiation Oncology Strategic Plan that brought IMRT, 3D Planning, CT Simulation, Prostate Seed Implantation, as well as other new procedures that have made the department a leader in radiation oncology.

Kilburg received a master's degree in business administration from Syracuse University in 1986 and a bachelor's degree LeMoyne College in 1980.

Kilburg resides in Liverpool.
