SUNY Upstate seeks to enlist local health care professionals in Medical Reserve Corps

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Nearly 18,000 thousand licensed health care professionals in Central New York, including physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists and veterinarians are being surveyed by the Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University to determine their interest in volunteering for the Central New York Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).

Colleen E. O'Leary, M.D., named interim chair of anesthesiology

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Colleen E. O'Leary, M.D., associate professor of anesthesiology and medical director for University Hospital's perioperative services, has been named interim chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University. O'Leary's appointment is effective April 9. O'Leary succeeds Enrico Camporesi, M.D., who has been named professor and chair of the department of anesthesiology and critical care and associate dean for clinical affairs and professor of physiology at the University of South Florida.


University Hospital celebrates Child Life Week beginning March 13

University Hospital introduces pill-sized capsule endoscopy procedure to Central New York

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - University Hospital is the only hospital in central and northern New York to offer the FDA-approved PillCam ESO endoscopy. PillCam ESO is a safe, accurate and sedation-free alternative to traditional endoscopy used to detect esophageal abnormalities and cirrhosis of the liver. The procedure is available at University Hospital's satellite facility, University Health Care Manlius, located at 102 West Seneca Street, Manlius.


Expansion of On-Campus Parking Created in Old Garage and New Public Garage

The new public Upstate Medical University Parking Garage East, featuring 1,200 spaces on five levels, with entrances on Sarah Loguen and Elizabeth Blackwell streets, will open to the public on March 7 for daily parking. Daily parking in the new public parking garage will be available at the current rate of $10 to anyone who presents their Upstate ID badge.
