Eastwood Rotary pledges $35,000 to Central New York Children's Hospital

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Eastwood Rotary Club has pledged $35,000 to the Central New York Children's Hospital capital campaign. The gift will name a pediatric oncology/hematology patient room in the children's hospital.
SUNY Upstate Medical University observes the Great American Smokeout

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - In observance of the Great American Smokeout, Nov. 18, SUNY Upstate Medical University, the region's largest employer, will ask all employees, students and visitors to its campus, including University Hospital, to refrain voluntarily from smoking anywhere on its grounds. Smoking currently is only prohibited indoors. More than 7,000 individuals a day come in contact with the campus.
National Hope on Wheels visits University Hospital

University Hospital was the 15th stop on the national Hope On Wheels tour, an initiative driven by the 640 U.S. Hyundai car dealers designed to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research at The Central New York Children's Hospital at University Hospital. Hyundai dealers and Hyundai Motor America have contributed almost $6 million for pediatric cancer research since 1998 through the company's Helping Kids Win Against Cancer charitable program. During the Hope on Wheels visit, the Syracuse Area Hyundai Dealers presented a $50,000 donation to the CNY Children's Hospital, designated for pediatric cancer research and treatment.

Because he cared, Josh single-handedly raised $11,500 over a summer for University Hospital's pediatric patients and the upcoming CNY Children's Hospital at University Hospital.

Central New Yorkers are invited to participate in the 36th annual Baldwinsville Kiwanis Turkey Day Races Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25, at C.W. Baker High School, 29 East Oneida St., Baldwinsville. The event, sponsored by the Baldwinsville Kiwanis Chapter and the Central New York Children's Miracle Network, will benefit the CNY Children's Hospital at University Hospital.
SUNY Upstate receives $100,000 state grant to support clinical skills teaching center

SUNY Upstate Medical University has received a $100,000 state grant to support the Clinical Skills Teaching Center, a main feature of SUNY Upstate's new academic building, which is slated to open in the fall of 2006. The announcement was made today, Nov. 12, by state Sen. Nancy Larraine Hoffmann.
