SUNY Upstate's Mini-Med School opens Oct. 13

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — If you've ever wondered what health providers learn, SUNY Upstate Medical University is giving you the chance to find out.

Back by popular demand, the university is again offering its Mini-Medical University to the general public, with all new material for 2004. Energetic faculty will give short versions of their most popular lectures — ranging from how the body functions, to techniques used in diagnosis, to treatments used for disease.

No science background is needed to enjoy the courses, just a healthy dose of curiosity. The program is suitable for mature teens and adults.

The six-week program runs Wednesday evenings Oct. 13 through Nov. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the OASIS Learning Center at Shoppingtown Mall in Dewitt and includes a refreshment break.

SUNY Upstate Medical University consists of four colleges and University Hospital. It is the region's only academic medical center and educates students and professionals in health and medical fields.
