Outpatient entrance to serve as front door as hospital main entrance and lobby close Aug. 12 for renovation
Beginning Aug. 12, University Hospital's main entrance and lobby will be closed for approximately one year as the entrance and lobby undergo extensive renovation.
During this time, the outpatient entrance will serve as the main hospital entrance. All staff members, visitors and patients will use this entrance for the duration of the renovation project. The outpatient entrance is located to the right of the main entrance. There will be a large sign designating thenew entrance.
Admitting, SpeedPas, Ambassador services and patient information will be relocated to this new temporary entrance. The patient registration suite, located off the main lobby, will remain open during the lobby construction and continue to provide registration services. Patients, visitors and staff members will still be able to access the hospital's main elevators during construction.
The coffee cart, formerly located in the main lobby, will now be open in Room 1500A of University Hospital.
While most of the existing lobby area will be off-limits during construction, a temporary corridor will be built to enable access to the hospital chapel, automatic teller machine and hospital administration offices.
A temporary exit for emergency use only will be built in the space formerly used by the gift shop.
Initial renovation work involves the demolition of the former gift shop, installation of temporary partitions, relocation of utilities, and asbestos abatement.
