Gregory Threatte, M.D., named chair of pathology at SUNY Upstate

Gregory A. Threatte, M.D., has been named chair of the Department of Pathology. Threatte joined SUNY Upstate in 1986 as associate professor and deputy to the president for minority affairs. During his tenure at SUNY Upstate, Threatte has served as director of extralaboratory testing and outreach, director of clinical chemistry, director of core laboratories and interim chair of the Department of Pathology.

Threatte has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the SUNY President's Award for the Advancement of Affirmative Action (1992), the SUNY President's Award for Excellence in Teaching (1998) and the National Association of Medical Minority Educators award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Health (2003).

Threatte is active on many community boards and is a trustee emeritus of Colgate University.

Prior to joining SUNY Upstate, Threatte was on the faculty of Georgetown University Medical School. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate in 1973.
