SUNY Upstate Medical University students arrive on campus Aug. 19
SUNY Upstate Medical University students arrive on campus Tuesday, Aug. 19, as the colleges of Medicine, Health Professions, Graduate Studies and Nursing welcome more than 1,100 students to campus this fall. First day of classes is Monday, Aug. 25.
Activities surrounding the opening of the 2003-2004 academic year will be held over the next week.
SUNY Upstate President Gregory L. Eastwood, M.D., will officially welcome parents and families during ceremonies to begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the Institute of Human Performance.
Joining Eastwood for the ceremony will be Kenneth L. Barker, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs and research; William J. Williams, M.D., dean of the College of Medicine; Rajesh J. Dave, M.D., dean of the Clinical Campus at Binghamton; Maxwell M. Mozell, Ph.D., dean of the College of Graduate Studies; Elvira Szigeti, Ph.D., R.N., dean of the College of Nursing; Hugh Bonner, Ph.D., dean of the College of Health Professions; and E. Gregory Keating, Ph.D., dean of Student Affairs.
The Parents and Family Association of the Medical Alumni Foundation at Upstate Medical University will provide each College of Medicine freshman with a white coat during ceremonies to be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in the athletic atrium of the Institute for Human Performance (IHP). Each freshman will also receive a copy of the Netter's Anatomy Book, courtesy of the Medical Alumni Foundation.
The College of Health Professions will present ceremonial white coats to students during ceremonies Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m. in the Institute for Human Performance.
