Syracuse Crunch help vision campaign at SUNY Upstate
The Syracuse Crunch helped raise nearly $4,000 for the Lions Clubs in District 20-Y1 (Central New York). The Lions worked with the Syracuse Crunch management to help sell Crunch season tickets, as well as foam "Chuck-a Pucks" at every home game. By accurately throwing pucks on the ice during Crunch game intermission, spectators are able to win prizes.
"We're so happy to have developed this relationship with the Syracuse Crunch," said Lion Max Pepper, Lions Vision 2000 project organizer. "The Crunch are always so good to us, and they really helped our Vision 2000 project this year."
The fundraising efforts were undoubtedly fueled by the Crunch's high-level of success last season. The team made it to the championship semi-finals before falling to Chicago in game seven.
The Lions will use the money raised at the Crunch games to fund its ongoing Vision 2000 project to support eye care and research at Upstate Medical University. The Lions have pledged $250,000 to the University's Foundation.
"Both the Lions and the Syracuse Crunch represent how caring and dedicated the Central New York community really is," said John Zacharek, director of corporate development at Upstate Medical University Foundation. "The Lions have demonstrated their longstanding commitment to eye research and care at Upstate Medical University. We are honored to have their continued support."
The Lions will partner again with Syracuse Crunch for the upcoming season which begins on Oct. 11.
