Paige's Butterfly Run nets Children's Miracle Network $27,000

A foot race held in memory of Paige Yeomans Arnold of Baldwinsville has raised $27,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. The money will go to benefit the Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders at University Hospital. An additional $3,000 will go to support the Baldwinsville Community Scholarship. More than 500 walkers and runners turned out for the June 2 event, which was held at Palmer Elementary School in Baldwinsville.

"Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those who participated in and supported Paige's Butterfly Run," said Toni Gary, director of the Children's Miracle Network. "The Central New York community is fortunate to have such dedicated and inspired individuals who make a commitment to honor Paige by helping others."

Paige Yeomans Arnold was in the first grade at Palmer Elementary School when she was diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. After treatment at University Hospital's Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders, Paige underwent a bone marrow transplant at Boston Children's Hospital in 1994, but died from resulting complications.

The annual event, which has been held the last five years, was founded by Paige's parents, Chris Arnold and Ellen Yeomans, and is named for Paige's love of butterflies.
