Hepatitis C Support Group Looking for Members

April 21, 1998

People with Hepatitis C, their family members, and others who are interested in learning more about Hepatitis C, are invited to join the informational support group of University Hospital's Liver Gallbladder Pancreas Center and the American Liver Foundation. The monthly meetings will be led by physicians who will present accurate, up to date information about Hepatitis C. A nurse will assist in leading a group discussion following each presentation. Topics of the discussions will be selected by meeting attendees.


Children's Miracle Network Telethon Broadcast May 30 and 31 on WIXT News Channel 9

Central New Yorkers are invited to join the excitement when the 14th Annual Central New York Children's Miracle Network Telethon is broadcast from WIXT News Channel 9 beginning Saturday, May 30, at 8 p.m., and continuing through Sunday, May 31, at 7 p.m. The Telethon is part of a national effort by the Osmond Foundation to generate funds to benefit hospitalized children worldwide. The Children's Miracle Network, presented locally by the Health Science Center Foundation at Syracuse, Inc., and WIXT, with radio station 93Q as a promotional sponsor, is unique in that all money raised locally remains in Central New York to benefit the children who receive their care at University Hospital of the Health Science Center and at Crouse Hospital.


Health Science Center's Dr. Richard L. Cross of Onondaga Hill to Participate in National Satellite TV Seminar, April 23

The Health Science Center's Richard L. Cross, Ph.D. has been invited by the American Chemical Society to participate in a national Satellite Television Seminar series for chemistry and other science students during National Science and Technology Week in April. Dr. Cross, a resident of Onondaga Hill, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse.


Register today for the Children's Miracle Network Run/Walk for Kids, May 2

Central New Yorkers are invited to participate in the 8th Annual University Hill Run/Walk for Kids, to benefit the Children's Miracle Network, Saturday, May 2, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the Health Science Center's Campus Activities Building, 155 Elizabeth Blackwell Street, Syracuse. The event is sponsored by the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, College of Medicine, with support provided by the Syracuse Track Club.


Area Schoolchildren Contribute Artwork to University Hospital's New Pediatric Services Directory

Works of art by children from area schools are featured in University Hospital's new Pediatric Services Directory. The artworks were selected by Susan Keeter, assistant director of Creative Services for University Hospital of the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. A professional children's book illustrator, Keeter was familiar with the students' artistic abilities and recruited their help in capturing an uplifting and friendly look to the publication.


Alzheimer's Disease is Topic of Free Seminar, January 29

Dr. Richard Ham will discuss current therapies and exciting treatments on the horizon for Alzheimer's Disease at a free seminar, Thursday, January 29, 6 p.m., at the University Health Care Manlius, located at 102 West Seneca Street, Manlius. Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building. The Health Science Center Manlius is fully handicapped accessible.
