Workplace violence survey is available online now
Upstate has partnered with healthcare facilities across CNY to create the Respect and Heal campaign, addressing workplace violence in our institutions. A survey to track and trend staff needs and ensure safety events are accurately reported for optimization of outcomes is now open online. The survey will take five minutes and will assist in our efforts to create safer and more supportive work environments for staff. Yoga for All is facilitated by Upstate clinicians trained in Trauma Adapted Yoga, a form of yoga based on trauma research, evidence-based yoga therapy and body-based methods with gentle exercises for self-management of common symptoms and reactions. Tranquility Tuesday is May 28
Tranquility Tuesday with Kaushal Nanavati, MD, will be held May 28 from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on the second floor of Nappi Wellness Institute. There will also be a virtual option. Tranquility Tuesday is held every Tuesday. Each session is a unique meditation, mindfulness, deep breathing, and relaxation practice experience. Spiritual Care event is May 30
Spiritual Care will commission six new summer chaplain interns who will train at Upstate University Hospital Thursday, May 30 at noon in the Interfaith Chapel on the first floor of Upstate University Hospital. Spiritual Care will also welcome three new chaplains to the department. All are welcome to attend this event.

Feeding the Mind, Funding Recovery event is May 31
The Feeding the Mind, Funding Recovery cocktail reception fundraiser to benefit The Eating Disorder Clinic at Upstate will be held Friday, May 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Everson Museum of Art. The event will feature live music by Dabble, CNY Central’s Megan Coleman as emcee, full access to the museum, food, a dance performance, and a silent auction. Staff and nurses sought to participate in mentoring program by May 31
Upstate’s mentoring program seeks staff and nurses interested in becoming mentees and being paired with a mentor. The program is a year-long commitment where mentees will complete development plans and meet on a monthly basis with their assigned mentor to achieve their goals. Karen Kemmis, PT, DPT, RN, MS, GCS, CDCES, FADCES, will discuss how exercise can benefit those with or at risk for osteoporosis Monday, June 3 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at HealthLink (6333 State Route 298, E. Upstate’s 40th annual Employee Recognition Day will be held Thursday, June 6 at the OnCenter. The event is invitation only and RSVPs are required by May 17.
