Coffee with the CMO is Feb. 10

Coffee with the CMO will be held Friday, Feb. 10 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the conference rooms of Upstate Cancer Center (C1076 A/B/C). All Upstate physicians, APPs, and clinical staff are invited to gather with colleagues for an update from Chief Medical Officer Amy Tucker, MD. Upstate Foundation iHeart Radiothon is Feb. 14 and 15

The Upstate Foundation iHeart Radiothon will be held Feb. 14 and 15 in the lobby of Upstate University Hospital. To volunteer for a shift, visit: Radiothon. Harvard physician speaks on caring for patients with disability Feb. 17

Lisa I. Iezzoni, MD, MSc, professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, will present Physicians’ Experiences with and Perceptions of Caring for Patients with Disability Feb. 17 at noon via Zoom.

Dr. Iezzoni is a member of the National Academy of Medicine in the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and is the 2022/23 Sally Starling Seaver Fellow at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute. She has published widely on health care experiences of persons with disabilities. OneDrive for Business to replace personal Novell U drive

IMT continues to transition users from Novell U drive for personal storage to OneDrive for Business, a cloud-based storage system for documents and files. With OneDrive for Business, students, faculty, and staff will have access to files from a computer, mobile device or an Internet browser through office.com. IMT will notify recipients via email of the planned transition date for their account. Students, faculty and staff may find current training resources including the transition timeline, accessing OneDrive, and sharing files on the OneDrive FAQ page: https://www.upstate.edu/imt/intra/office365/faqs.php. This change will not affect any other shares, email, EPIC and/or any other clinical applications.

IMT Offers Virtual and Recorded OneDrive Training

IMT offers students, faculty and staff virtual training for OneDrive, a cloud-based storage system for documents and files, through March 2022. Multi-Factor Authentication App to begin using Verification Code

Starting Feb. 27th, users of the Microsoft Authentication app, the app on your mobile device that allows you to authenticate using two-step verification, will send a verification code as your security method instead of requiring users to tap “Approve.”  IMT will reach out in advance to users to inform them of the change. For more information about the authenticator app, visit https://bit.ly/umuauth. Users who do not use the mobile app can expect to continue to use two-step verification as usual. Registering a device with the Microsoft Authenticator App gives your device access to Upstate’s services and doesn't allow Upstate access to your device. Questions? Claire B. Wightman Volunteer Enrichment Endowment Fund

The Upstate Foundation and the Wightman family have created the Claire B. Wightman Volunteer Enrichment Endowment fund to honor Claire’s exceptional legacy of volunteer service.  Prior to her passing last fall, Claire volunteered at Upstate Community Hospital for 46 years and logged 23,245 hours, making her one of Upstate’s longest serving volunteers.  The fund will support volunteer recruitment, training and recognition, ensuring generations of volunteers will be inspired by Claire’s example of care and compassion. Advocates Grant Funding Program seeks applicants 

The Advocates Grant Funding Program for 2023-2024 is accepting applications for funding now through Feb. 27 at noon. Awards will be announced in April. Funds for grants awarded will be disbursed between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024. All proposals should align with Advocates for Upstate’s mission to improve patient care and satisfaction, support medical education, and enhance community health. Applications for grants are accepted from departments across the Upstate Medical University campuses and must be for items and/or services NOT funded through department budgets.
