New online room reservation system is now available
Room reservation requests for most conference rooms, classrooms and lecture halls are now processed online through 25Live. Volunteers sought for health care careers coaching at Syracuse City School District
Stuart Trust, MD, pediatric professor emeritus, seeks volunteers for health care careers coaching in Syracuse schools. Volunteers would sit with students in small groups and discuss various opportunities in the health care fields. Opportunities are available each week from 8 to 9 a.m. for about 30 minutes. Spiritual Care celebration is Sept. 29
Spiritual Care will host a special celebration Sept. 29 at noon in the Interfaith Chapel on the first floor of Upstate University Hospital. The Upstate community is welcome to attend. Nancy Page, Upstate’s former chief nursing officer, will join in the dedication of the refurbished chapel doors and entrance. Donna Stoner, former director of Volunteer Services, will receive the 2022 Spirit of Nancy Calhoun Award. New chaplain interns, a chaplain fellow and Jesuit novice will be commissioned. Questions? Prostate cancer seminar is Sept. 29
HealthLink will offer a seminar on prostate cancer and advances in surgical treatments Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. via Zoom. Prostate cancer risk factors, current statistics, screening methods, and treatment options with a focus on surgical interventions will be discussed. This virtual HealthLink seminar is live, free, and open to the public. The session is geared toward the general public and is held in partnership with the Upstate Men to Men Prostate Cancer Support Group. Volunteers sought for Upstate Foundation’s fourth annual Call in for Cancer Oct. 20
The Upstate Foundation's fourth annual Call in for Cancer, held in partnership with iHeartMedia, Inc., will broadcast live on 570WSYR, Y94, and CNY Central Thursday, Oct. 20 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stories of hope and encouragement will be shared, along with information on how individuals can be a part of helping Upstate Cancer Center patients.
Volunteers are sought to answer phones, take pledges and make thank-you calls to past donors. One-, two-, and three-hour shifts are available. The phone bank will be located in the Upstate Cancer Center conference room 1076 (A, B, C) and all Covid protocols on that day will be followed. Those unable to volunteer for a shift may be considered for a social media ambassador post. To volunteer for a shift, click on the following link and signup. Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Lecture is Nov. 7
The annual Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Lecture will be held Nov. 7 from noon to 1 p.m. in 1159 Weiskotten Hall. The lecture will include a keynote address by Kornelia Polyak, MD, PhD, professor of medicine at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School. Honors will be given to Jeanette Danielle McGinness, Stacy Daniele Huvane and Bernadette Salvatore.All members of the Upstate community are welcome.
