Upstate to hold community forums on Upstate-Crouse acquisition Aug. 18
The second of two community forums to discuss the proposed Upstate-Crouse collaboration will be held Thursday, Aug. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Southwest Community Center, 401 South Ave., Syracuse. The forum is open to the public.

Chaplain intern graduation is Aug. 18
The Upstate community is welcome to attend the graduation of six summer chaplain interns Aug. 18 at noon in the Interfaith Chapel. Graduates of Upstate’s Clinical Pastoral Education Program include: Deacon Ade Ademoyo (5A/B), Father Immanuel Agbulu (neurology 9EFG), Father Paschal Anionye (6H/I and Community), Rev. Caroline Greene (oncology 10E/H), Sister Jessintha Xavier (6E, 6K) and Seminarian Pawel Zmija (8E/F/G).

Pediatric Covid-19 update is Aug. 24
Joseph Domachowske, MD, professor of pediatrics and microbiology/immunology and pediatric infectious diseases specialist, will present a pediatric Covid-19 update Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This HealthLink seminar is live, free and open to the public.

Deadline for Emerging Leaders United applications is Aug. 29
Upstate employees are welcome to apply for Upstate’s chapter of Emerging Leaders United, an affinity group with United Way of Central New York. Participants of the Emerging Leaders program will represent Upstate Medical University and have the opportunity to attend leadership and community education programs, volunteer events, and network with leaders from Syracuse businesses. Clark Burn Center kickball tournament is Sept. 10
Upstate’s Clark Burn Center will hold the second annual Give Burns the Boot kickball tournament Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Syracuse Sports Association/Syracuse Kickball Park in Liverpool, N.Y. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. event start. Proceeds benefit Clark Burn Center patients and the Jessica Summers, MD, Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Build a team of 10 players for $300 ($25 for each additional player). Registration includes a commemorative T-shirt. Teams must have at least 3 female players. All players must be age 14 and older.

Al Todeschini Paddle for Pancreatic Cancer Sept. 24
The Al Todeschini Paddle for Pancreatic Center will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. The event includes a leisurely two-mile canoe or kayak paddle on the Moose River beginning at the Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company in Old Forge, N.Y. *No kayaks or canoes will be available for rental.
Proceeds benefit the Al Todeschini Pancreatic Cancer Fund, held at the Upstate Foundation, which assists pancreatic cancer patients with expenses and unmet needs related to their care and pancreatic cancer research. HeARTS for the Homeless is Oct. 13
HeARTS for the Homeless will be held Oct. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Lucy’s Auditorium, 421 Gifford Street, Syracuse. The event will feature an auction of paintings, photography, pottery and jewelry created by local and national artists. Proceeds benefit the Housecalls for the Homeless, the street medicine program serving individuals experiencing homelessness in Onondaga County.
