Donations sought for Mary Nelson’s backpack and school supplies drive
Donations of new or gently-used backpacks and new school supplies are sought to help local children prepare for the upcoming school year. Items will be distributed at the 21st annual Mary Nelson Youth Day BBQ Saturday, Aug. 20. Donations will be accepted at various locations throughout campus until July 22. Global Health seeks volunteers for new study
Upstate’s Global Health seeks volunteers to help advance development of an investigational flu vaccine using mRNA technology. Participants must be 18 to 49 years old and have not received a flu vaccine in the last six months. Those who qualify and choose to participate will be in the study for about seven months. The Upstate community is invited to help Sarah’s Guest House, the university’s 2022 Your Cause partner, with two volunteer activities:
—painting a shed and completing yard work Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
—interior painting Aug. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sarah’s Guest House
