Teletracking open forums will be held in June

Teletracking virtual open forums will be offered June 7 at 9 p.m., June 9 at 1 p.m., and June 10 at 7 a.m. Upstate staff and leaders will learn more about Teletracking and have an opportunity to ask questions. Join registry for future respiratory virus research

Upstate’s Institute for Global Health is working with the National Institutes of Health to develop a registry for future influenza, Covid-19, and other respiratory virus studies. Future projects and visits will take place at the Global Health Research Unit at Upstate Community Hospital. Parking and compensation will be included. Summer jobs available for current college students

Upstate seeks current college students to apply for summer jobs. Positions to be filled include cleaning of dorms and grounds maintenance. Eligible applicants must be matriculated undergraduate or graduate college student and must possess a valid New York state driver’s license. Upstate Foundation teams up with Mirabito and Dairy Queen in June

The Upstate Foundation will team up with Mirabito convenience stores in the month of June. Customers can round up their purchases at the checkout with proceeds supporting patients and families at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. National Cancer Survivors Day event is June 6

In celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day, Upstate Cancer Center is excited to bring the zoo to you with a special virtual event Sunday, June 6 at 7 p.m. Cancer survivors and their families are invited to join us for a video premiere starring our animal friends from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, cancer survivors, and Upstate Cancer Center doctors and staff. Easy for You is June 8

Easy for You, Upstate's tobacco treatment program, will be held Tuesday, June 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in 7335B of the west wing at Upstate University Hospital's Downtown Campus. Those with an Upstate ID are welcome to receive help quitting tobacco, chew, and vape. Free nicotine replacement therapy is available. 2021 Calendar Update—Juneteenth is June 19

The New York State Department of Civil Service Attendance and Leave Unit has recently declared Juneteenth a legal holiday. Juneteenth 2021 falls on Saturday, June 19 and all Upstate units and departments will operate on a red holiday schedule on this day with staffing for essential services only. When a holiday falls on an employee’s regular scheduled day off or pass day, state and research employees entitled to time off with pay on days observed as holidays by the state shall be granted compensatory time off. A compensatory day off in lieu of the holiday will be scheduled at times mutually convenient to the employee and Upstate. Eligible employees scheduled or directed to work on any such Saturday may receive additional compensation in lieu such compensatory time in accordance with State attendance rules. 



July 4 holiday will be observed July 5

New York state and Research Foundation employees entitled to time off with pay on days observed as holidays by the state, will observe Independence Day Monday, July 5 as noted in the 2021 Holiday Calendar: https://www.upstate.edu/payroll/pdf/calendar/general/upstate_annual_calendar.pdf. Join your Upstate teammates for Healthy Monday Race Across the US

Everyone is welcome to join Pathway to Wellness, Neurology, and Research Foundation groups for the Healthy Monday Race Across the U.S., a free challenge designed to help participants create and continue healthy habits. Enjoy friendly competition while improving health through movement, healthy eating, and stress management techniques. The goal is to move from Syracuse to the Golden Gate bridge by logging healthy behaviors. There will be routine drawings for a chance to win prizes. Advocates for Upstate seeks applications for Nellie Hurley Scholarships

Advocates for Upstate seeks applications for the 2021-22 Nellie Hurley Scholarships. Active employees or volunteers who will have worked for Upstate for at least six months prior to the June 25 application deadline are eligible. Upstate Foundation conducts annual The Power of Us employee giving program

During the first week of May, all Upstate employees received an email with information about making a contribution to the Upstate Foundation’s annual The Power of Us employee giving program. Support Upstate by donating to one or more of the Foundation’s 1000 funds that benefit patient care, education and research. If you are able, please consider contributing to a fund that is meaningful to you, it would be appreciated. Donations can be made through payroll deduction up until June 18, or by cash, check or credit card until June 30.
