COVID-19 vaccine study seeks volunteers
Upstate’s Institute for Global Health seeks healthy volunteers aged 18 to 85 to participate in a COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial. Parking and compensation will be included. For information, email trials@upstate.edu or call 315-464-9869.

University Internists is now accepting new primary care patients 18 years old and up. Most insurances are accepted, including the Empire plan. Celebrate Dr. Eastwood’s 80th with a donation to the Dr. Gregory and Lynn Eastwood Endowment for Ethics
Gregory L. Eastwood, MD, who served as Upstate's president from 1993 to 2006, and as interim president from 2013 to 2015, celebrates his 80th birthday today. To celebrate this milestone birthday, the Upstate Foundation will match any donation—for a total Foundation contribution of $5,000—to the Gregory L. and Lynn M. Eastwood Endowment for Ethics made this week. The fund helps to support the Upstate Center for Bioethics and Humanities, where Eastwood is currently a member of the faculty. The Center for Bioethics and Humanities, a department of the College of Medicine, advances the scholarly and professional understanding of bioethics and the medical humanities.

Upstate’s COVID-19 testing site to offer tests for asymptomatic employees and students July 29 and 30
Upstate employees and students who are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 are welcome to be tested at the 800 E. Water St. testing site July 29 and 30—drive through or walk up. Capacity will allow for 50 tests per day. Employees/students will not be charged above what insurance covers. To schedule an appointment, call 315-464-2778 and select option 0. Individuals will receive test results by phone within 48 hours. Results will also be available through MyChart. Testing is private and not connected to Employee/Student Health. Additional dates will be added as testing capacity allows.

World Breastfeeding Week online education sessions are Aug. 6
World Breastfeeding Week: Celebration of Breastfeeding During a Pandemic will be held Thursday, Aug. 6 in two sessions. Session and registration information is below. Easy for You is Aug. 11
Easy for You, Upstate’s tobacco treatment program, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room 7335B (West Wing) at Upstate University Hospital. Those with an Upstate ID are welcome to receive help quitting tobacco, chew, and vape. Free nicotine replacement therapy is available. Blood drive is Aug. 12
Upstate will host a Red Cross blood drive Aug. 12 from noon to 5 p.m. in the atrium of Setnor Academic Building. Upstate staff and students are welcome to make an appointment online at: www.upstate.edu/blood. Individuals unable to keep an appointment should email brucek@upstate.edu. Precautions will be taken to protect donors.

Cafe Kubal, on the 11th floor of Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, is open Monday from 6 a.m. to midnight, Tuesday through Thursday 24 hours, and Fridays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Perk-Up, in the Upstate University Hospital lobby, is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
