Nominations for 2019 Excellence in Healthcare awards, sponsored by BizEventz and Bankers Healthcare Group, are being accepted through July 15. Recognition will be given in the following categories: Ambulatory Surgery Center of Distinction, Healthcare Facility of Distinction, Excellence in Dentistry, Excellence in Medicine, Excellence in Surgery, Excellence in Veterinary Medicine, Excellence in Nursing, Outstanding Physical Therapist, Outstanding Hospital Executive, Heart of Healthcare, Impact Players, Outstanding Rising Star, and Healthcare Innovator.Awards will be presented Oct. 16. Sock Out Cancer Night at the Syracuse Mets is June 26
Wednesday, June 26, is Sock Out Cancer night at the Syracuse Mets game. Sock Out Cancer is a nonprofit initiative with a mission to address the emotional and financial strain faced by cancer patients and their families. Tickets are $13 with $3 benefiting the Upstate Foundation’s Sock Out Cancer Fund, which assists Upstate Cancer Center patients and their families. Community Campus Primary Care Provider Rounds is June 28
Community Campus Primary Care Provider Rounds will be held Friday, June 28 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in Classroom A/B at Community Campus. A retirement reception for Robert Poster will be held Friday, June 28 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in room 3430 (Radiology conference room) at Downtown Campus. Poster retires after 32 years of service in Radiology. The Upstate community is welcome.
Advocates Nellie Hurley scholarship applications accepted until June 28
The Advocates for Upstate is now accepting Nellie Hurley scholarship applications for tuition and related expenses. Awards are granted to active employees and adult volunteers pursing undergraduate studies in any health-related field at an accredited institution, and who meet eligibility criteria. Maureen T. O’Hara Teal There’s a Cure Motorcycle Run is June 30
The inaugural 55-mile Teal There’s a Cure Motorcycle Run will be held Sunday, June 30 beginning at 11:30 am at Local 315 Brewing Company, 3160 Warners Road, Warners. An after-party will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring live music and a barbeque. Proceeds benefit ovarian cancer research, education and awareness including research at Upstate Medical University, and the Maureen T. O’Hara Teal There’s a Cure Fund, held at the Upstate Foundation, which provides ovarian cancer patient assistance.
