Onondaga County Health Department seeks input on health of our community
The Onondaga County Health Department has asked Upstate Medical University to participate in its Community Health Assessment. The health department will use this information to work on ways to improve the health of people who live in the county. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and is open through May 31. Items sought for In My Father’s Kitchen homeless outreach program
In My Father’s Kitchen, Upstate’s 2019 Your Cause partner, will collect items for the homeless Thursday, May 30 from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot on the corner of Adams and Sarah Loguen streets. The non-profit organization seeks children’s clothing (newborn to young teens), houseware items, small appliances, bedding, and blankets. Spiritual Care Journal Club is May 15
Spiritual Care Journal Club will be held Wednesday, May 15 from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. in 1317 Upstate University Hospital Downtown Campus. Second annual Stroke Awareness Boot Camp is May 18
The second annual Stroke Awareness Boot Camp will be held Saturday, May 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Health and Country Club, Camillus. Gregory L. Eastwood to speak May 19
Gregory L. Eastwood, MD, will speak at Barnes and Noble (3454 Erie Blvd. East) Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. Upstate’s former president will discuss his new book, Finishing Our Story: Preparing for the End of Life, and will be available to sign copies. The event is open to the public.

Nursing Grand Rounds will be held Tuesday, May 21 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Performance Center at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, and streamed live to Classroom A/B at Community Campus. Housecalls for the Homeless Chair-ity Event is June 6
Housecalls for the Homeless Chair-ity Event will be held Thursday, June 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Lucy’s Auditorium, 432 Gifford Street. The event will feature a silent auction of 20 uniquely decorated chairs donated by local and national designers and artists. Proceeds benefit the Housecalls for the Homeless Fund, held at the Upstate Foundation.
