The Informed Patient podcast recently featured an interview with Upstate experts about babies and sleep, non-addictive pain relief, and Upstate’s new Throughput Center.
- Babies can be trained to sleep consistently, explains Zafer Soutlan, MD, the chief of pediatric pulmonary medicine, who also describes signs of sleep disorders in infants.
- A new, non-opioid oral pain reliever appears to be non-addictive. Anesthesiologist Vandana Sharma, MD, discusses the drug, sugetrizine, and when it might be prescribed. She is the director of pain management services at Upstate.
- A high-tech center aims to reduce bottlenecks and improve efficiency for patients’ hospital stays. How the Throughput Center works is described by Kyle Choquette, RN, an associate director for nursing who oversees the center.
