Spiritual Care offers Ash Wednesday events March 5
Spiritual care chaplains will offer ashes March 5. The schedule is as follows:
- 7:45 a.m. in room E5402 Upstate University Hospital
- 8:45 a.m. in fifth floor conference room at UHCC
- 10 a.m. in Suite D conference room at 550 Harrison
- 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the pediatric chapel on the 12th floor of Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital
- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the meditation room on the first floor of Upstate Cancer Center
- Noon to 1 p.m. and 7:15 to 8 p.m. in the Interfaith Chapel on the first floor of Upstate University Hospital
A Roman Catholic Mass including ashes will be held at 4 p.m. in the Interfaith Chapel on the first floor of Upstate University Hospital. World Lymphedema Day is March 6
World Lymphedema Day is March 6. Lymphedema is a condition involving abnormal swelling of protein rich lymphatic fluid and can be congenital or arise from cancer treatments, trauma, surgery. At Upstate, physical therapists provide a variety of solutions for patients who experience lymphedema. Upstate's lymphedema team includes five therapists within Upstate’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department. Lymphedema services are available at both Upstate University Hospital and Community, and at three of Upstate’s outpatient locations. Walk with a Doc is March 8
Tim Creamer, MD, clinical assistant professor of medicine, will lead Upstate’s Walk with a Doc event Saturday, March 8 at 9 a.m. on the upstairs indoor track at the Baldwinsville YMCA, 8040 River Rd., Baldwinsville. Dr. Creamer will present What to Do in an Emergency and then lead participants on a walk. Participants can walk at their own pace and distance. The event is free and open to the public. ProCure launches March 10
ProCure is a new website bringing together expertise from Upstate’s Accounts Payable, Contracts and Campus Purchasing, Hospital Purchasing, Supply Chain Analytics and Systems, and Travel. The integrated platform will launch March 10 and will function like the IMT Help Desk and AskHR ticketing sites by providing a centralized resource for procurement-related information and support. End users should continue to use Online Purchase Requisition and Lawson Web Requisition to place their orders, C-Tracks for multi-year agreements, and the [email protected] email for invoice submission and payment inquires. Teaching Kitchen event is March 11
Upstate’s Teaching Kitchen event on how to eat for colon health will be held Tuesday, March 11 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in room 2151/2153 Nappi Wellness Institute. The chef will discuss ingredients and cooking techniques for a plant-based recipe while the registered dietician discusses the nutritional benefits of the recipe ingredients. Each presenter will answer questions related to the recipe or any other food and nutrition queries. This event is free and open to the Upstate community and the public. Charting Your Course: A Woman’s Financial Guide is March 18
The first in a series of free quarterly financial educational presentations for Upstate staff will be held Tuesday, March 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. in C1076 A/B/C at Upstate Cancer Center. The Upstate Foundation’s Carolyn Hendrickson, in partnership with TIAA representatives Reanna Wenham, Estella Taylor-Greene and Sandra Bennet, will launch the series designed to help employees prepare for retirement, estate planning and beyond. Team Upstate seeks St. Baldrick’s participants and donors for event March 23
Team Upstate seeks participants willing to shave their heads to help raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation to fund pediatric oncology research. Trauma Fest is May 21
Upstate Trauma will host Trauma Fest May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Elizabeth Blackwell Street. The event serves as an internal appreciation festival for all who provide outstanding care to Upstate’s trauma patients. In addition to Upstate departments, the event will feature an ambulance from AMR, a firetruck from Syracuse Fire, a police car from University Police, two food trucks, air medical services, and some of Upstate’s trauma partners. Upstate Global Health Institute seeks participants for new clinical study
The Upstate Global Health Institute seeks participants for a new clinical trial related to Covid. As Covid-19 changes and new strains of the virus develop, it's important to understand how well a vaccine is working, to help create and improve vaccines that keep people safe from Covid. Participants must be 18 or older, have received a Covid vaccination within the last 14 days or be willing to receive an approved Covid vaccine before starting the study, and be able to use devices to collect samples such as blood, nasal fluid and saliva. All participants will have samples collected for a duration of 1 year and will be asked to wear a smartwatch-like device for a minimum of 20 hours per day, including while sleeping.
