Donations sought for Mary Nelson’s backpack and school supplies drive
Donations of new or gently-used backpacks and new school supplies are sought to help local children prepare for the upcoming school year. Items will be distributed at the 21st annual Mary Nelson Youth Day BBQ Saturday, Aug. 20. Donations will be accepted at various locations throughout campus until July 22. Raffle supports Upstate Foundation
The Upstate Foundation and Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital are beneficiaries of a raffle sponsored by Ace Hardware. Help desk for Lawson users now available
Supply Chain Management (formerly known as Materials Management) has opened a help desk for Lawson users. Global Health seeks volunteers for new study
Upstate’s Global Health seeks volunteers to help advance development of an investigational flu vaccine using mRNA technology. Participants must be 18 to 49 years old and have not received a flu vaccine in the last six months. Those who qualify and choose to participate will be in the study for about seven months. Session on outdoor activities is July 13

Financial wellness webinar for New York state employees is July 14
VOYA welcomes Upstate’s state employees to participate in a financial wellness webinar July 14 at noon. The Upstate community is invited to help Sarah’s Guest House, the university’s 2022 Your Cause partner, with two volunteer activities:
—painting a shed and completing yard work Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
—interior painting Aug. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sarah’s Guest House
Sarah’s Guest House is a local 501C3 charity whose mission is to provide lodging, transportation, meals and comfort to patients and families receiving medical care in Central New York. Sarah’s Guest House is the only healthcare hospitality house for adults in Central New York.

Easy for you, Upstate's tobacco treatment program, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in 7335B Upstate University Hospital. Those with an Upstate ID are welcome to receive help quitting tobacco, chew, and vape. Free nicotine replacement therapy is available. Upstate’s Emerging Leaders United group seeks volunteers to participate in Day of Caring, an event to celebrate the United Way of CNY’s 100th anniversary. Days of Caring will be held Aug. 4. Local companies, organizations and individuals will participate in community service for local nonprofit agencies, the City of Syracuse, and Onondaga County.
