Employee/Student Health online portal changes username format to email address

The Employee/Student Health online portal now uses email for username. All passwords remain the same. To access the Employee/Student Health online portal, visit https://eshportal.upstate.edu. For questions or issues with the new login format, call the Help Desk at 315-464-4115.

Keep your HR benefits information updated

New York state and SUNY Research Foundation provide eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package. It is vital to keep your coverage and contact information up to date to avoid delays in proper coverage and/or correspondence. The following is a list of situations that would require you to notify the HR Benefits office of a change in a timely manner—within 30 days of the event for New York state staff and within 60 days of event for SUNY RF staff:

  • Marriage, divorce, or domestic partner relationship no longer exists
  • A new baby, child adoptions, or no longer have eligible dependents (they become eligible for coverage due to employment, for example)
  • Dependent loses eligibility (i.e. child is no longer a full-time student over the age of 19 and no longer eligible for dental or vision coverage)
  • Death of a spouse
  • Moving to a new home address or get a new phone number
  • Name changes

Enter change of marital status, home address and/or phone number online via your secure Self-Serve account under “My Information/Employee Details/Personal Profile.”

Dr. Jessica Summers Memorial Scholarship Fund launched

The Dr. Jessica Summers Memorial Scholarship Fund has been created to sponsor an annual mission trip to Honduras for a young medical professional. Summers was passionate about her missionary work in this area. To make a donation to the fund, visit The Upstate Foundation. Visitation with the family is Aug. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas Pirro Funeral Home, 3401 Vickery Road, North Syracuse. A funeral Mass will be held Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero, 8229 Brewerton Road.

NY Project Hope offers online wellness groups

NY Project Hope will offer Move Forward with Hope: Online Wellness Groups. Six topics will be explored. The groups are free, anonymous, confidential and are facilitated by trained crisis counselors. Suite 1K covid testing site hours changing Aug. 2

Beginning Aug. 2, hours of operation for Upstate’s Suite 1K covid testing site at Community will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The site will remain open to walk-in testing, no appointment necessary, and registration completed on-site upon arrival.

Memorial service for Dan Shepard is Aug. 4

A memorial service will be held for Upstate ambassador Dan Shepard Aug. 4 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Upstate University Hospital. Shepard passed away June 13 and was an ambassador for six years. The Upstate community is welcome.

Hyperbaric and Wound Care water bottle sale is Aug. 4

Water bottles will be available for purchase Aug. 4 from 7 to 9 a.m. on the second floor of Upstate University Hospital. Proceeds benefit the hyperbaric and wound care unit. Cash is accepted. Bottles are $10 each.

Adaptive recreational equipment available for use during Triad on the Trails Aug. 7

Try out adaptive cycles, kayaks, or running chariots and complete your first mile along the Erie Canalway Trail during a special activity set for Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cedar Bay Park in DeWitt. A group walk—ride or roll—will begin at 11 a.m. Children and families from the Golisano Center for Special Needs and others in the disability community will gather for a fun day of inclusive outdoor recreation. The activity will feature adapted equipment that is available from AccessCNY’s Technology Related Assistance for Individuals with Disability (TRAID) lending library, a free resource for durable medical equipment. For more information on the Aug. 7 event, email sefickj@upstate.edu.

Easy for You is Aug. 10

Easy for You, Upstate's tobacco treatment program, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in 7335B of the west wing at Upstate University Hospital's Downtown Campus. Those with an Upstate ID are welcome to receive help quitting tobacco, chew, and vape. Free nicotine replacement therapy is available. Deadline for Emerging Leaders United applications is Aug. 20

Upstate employees are welcome to apply for Upstate’s chapter of Emerging Leaders United, an affinity group with United Way of Central New York. Participants of the Emerging Leaders program will represent Upstate Medical University and have the opportunity to attend leadership and community education programs, volunteer events, and network with leaders from Syracuse businesses. Emerging Leaders are required to fulfill 16 hours of volunteer service from September 2021 to September 2022. The Advanced Practice Symposium will be held virtually and on-demand from Sept. 13 to Nov. 19. Al Todeschini Paddle for Pancreatic Cancer is Sept. 18

The Al Todeschini Paddle for Pancreatic Cancer will be held Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Enjoy a leisurely two-mile canoe or kayak paddle on the Moose River beginning at the Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company in Old Forge, N.Y. Proceeds benefit the Al Todeschini Pancreatic Cancer Fund, held at the Upstate Foundation, which assists pancreatic cancer patients with expenses and unmet needs related to their care and pancreatic cancer research. Note: There will be no kayak or canoe rentals available at this year’s event. Pre-registration deadline is Sept. 3.
