FDA public hearing on Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine is Dec. 10
The FDA will hold a public hearing to discuss Emergency Use Authorization for Pfizer’s Covid vaccine Thursday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST. The online meeting will be available via web at the following links:
Spiritual Care’s annual memorial service will be livestreamed Dec. 13
Join Spiritual Care Sunday, Dec .13 at 2 p.m. for a livestream of the annual memorial service. 2021 President’s and SUNY Chancellor’s Awards accepted now through Dec. 21
Nominations for the 2021 President’s and SUNY Chancellor’s Awards will be accepted now through Dec. 21, 2020. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit nominations. These are prestigious awards for outstanding contributions in the categories outlined below. The nomination period for both levels of awards will be the same during the 2020/21 cycle, and nominations for either or both level are encouraged.
Award categories include the following:
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (President’s Award)
Faculty research/scholarship (President’s Awards and a Chancellor’s Award)
Faculty teaching (President’s Awards and a Chancellor’s Award)
Faculty service (President’s Award and a Chancellor’s Award)
Professional service (President’s Award and a Chancellor’s Award)
Unique distinguished service (President’s Award)
Voluntary faculty (President’s Awards)

Geriatric Council T-shirt sale ends Dec. 31

NYS Option Transfer Period is now open and ends Dec. 31
The New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP) has announced the employee bi-weekly rates for 2021 and provides eligible employees with the option of changing between the pans offered (i.e. PPO to HMO). Except under limited circumstances, you cannot change options outside the annual Option Transfer Period, which ends Dec. 31, 2020. To change your health insurance option during the Option Transfer Period, please visit https://www.upstate.edu/hr/intra/benefits/changing_options_state.phpor contact Kathi Exner, Health Benefits Administrator (HBA) at email@example.com as soon as possible. Eligible employees may also be able to opt out of coverage for the 2021 plan year in exchange for an incentive payment. The Pre-Tax Contribution Program (PTCP) Election Period Changes for 2021 now runs concurrently with the Option Transfer Period.
Extension of annual vacation leave expiration date announced by Governor’s Office of Employee Relations
We have been informed by the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations (GOER), that an agreement with CSEA, PEF, PBANYS, and UUP unions has been reached on an extension of the upcoming annual (or extended to) vacation leave expiration date of Dec. 31, 2020. This extension applies to management/confidential (M/C) employees and Research Foundation (RF) employees who would otherwise forfeit unused vacation leave credits Jan. 1, 2021. All such unused vacation leave can now be carried through Dec. 31, 2021 for these groups. Please note that the maximum vacation lump sum pay out at time of separation for most employees is still 30 days.
Friend in Deed funding applications accepted until Jan. 15
The Upstate Foundation is accepting applications from Upstate employees for Friend in Deed funding for projects that enhance the patient experience at Upstate University Hospital’s Community and Downtown campuses. Friend in Deed is the annual fund for the hospitals and is largely supported through donations from grateful patients and their families, as well as members of the Upstate family and the community. Guidelines and applications are available on the Upstate Foundation website at https://www.upstatefoundation.org/friendindeedor by calling 315-464-4416. Applications require the approval of a department head. The deadline to submit applications to the Upstate Foundation office (CAB 326) is Friday, January 15, 2021.

Nominations are sought for the 2020-2021 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service. This award recognizes State classified service employees represented by CSEA, PEF and PBA of NYS for excellence and superior service.
