Profile:
I received my bachelor's degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry in University of California, San Diego, followed by two years of working as a research associate in industry. By joining Dr. Yao’s lab, I’m able to pursue my research interest for my future career in neuroscience. My project focuses on how the dopamine/reward circuit affects the consolation behavior in rodents - in other words, why being altruistic makes people feel good. This work could help us understand symptoms associated with loss of empathy, for example, behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD).
