I graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry. I am currently a PhD student in the lab of Dr. Preethi Ganapathy. My current research project is focusing on characterizing the mechanism of nuclear mechanosensation in optic nerve head astrocytes. I’m interested in the interaction between actin cytoskeleton and LINC complex proteins, specifically how this affects chromatin organization and downstream gene expression. Also, I’m interested in the shuttling of proteins to and from the nucleus and how the interplay between cytosolic and nuclear actin may affect LINC complex protein activity.
