• LinkAGES: An innovated approach to teaching geriatrics in undergraduate medical education.

LinkAges is a new program that enhances the knowledge base and skill set of traditional medicine by providing students with a heightened awareness of and increased sensitivity to issues unique to the elderly. These sessions are hosted at two senior housing facilities in Syracuse: GreenPoint Senior Living, a well elder living community and James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing home. Students will experience very different home settings and challenges and thereby be better able to understand various geriatric syndromes or conditions which do not fall within the purview of traditional medical education.

LinkAGES ProgramSites and Directions

Session 1 is held at GREENPOINT SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY at 150 old Liverpool Road, Liverpool, NY.

Sessions 2,3, and 4 will be held at JAMES SQUARE HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTRE at 918 James Street, Syracuse, New York. Directions and parking instructions are as follows:

Greenpoint Senior Living Community (To back of building)

From University Hospital traffic circle:

• Straight to Sarah Loguen Street.
• Left on Harrison Street.
• Right onto 81-N.
• Exit 24B to Old Liverpool Road (follow all the 24B signs!). Proceed to the traffic light, continue past the End Zone Bar and Grille on the right. Look for Greenpoint on the right.
• Right into Greenpoint at sign.
• Circle rightward to back of building. Look for sign that says Visitor Entrance/Administration on left. You will enter the building there.
• Park in the outer parking spaces away from the building PLEASE!

James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center (To back of building)

From University Hospital traffic circle:

• Straight to Sarah Loguen Street.
• Left on Harrison Street.
• Right on Almond Street.
• Pass East Genesee Street.
• Pass Erie Boulevard.
• Pass Burnet Avenue to the all-way stop sign. MQ Camera Center is on the left.
• Veer left on Catherine Street.
• Right on James Street to first traffic light.
• Right on Lodi Street.
• Left on Green Street.
• Look for James Square back entrance on the Left. Take third driveway on left (first is a double drive, second leads under a building) where sign says James Square Service.
• Park in the outer parking spaces away from the building pm the Green Street side PLEASE!
• Look toward the building on the right and locate the children's playground. You will walk through a secured gate through the playground to enter the building there. Please re-secure the gate!
