Student Profile:
Before joining Upstate’s MD/PhD program in June of 2019, I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology and a M.S. in Cell and Developmental Biology. I chose Upstate because of its positive, collaborative environment. I completed two summer lab rotations in Dr. Juntao Luo’s lab and began my PhD work in June of 2021. My project focuses on optimizing the lab’s novel Telodendrimer Nanotrap platform to selectively remove cytokines from blood using both animal models and human sepsis patient samples with the long-term goal of restoring immune balance to improve outcomes in sepsis.
