The MD/PhD Program at SUNY Upstate Medical University has approximately 26 students who are in various stages of their training. You can learn about these individual students and their research interest by selecting the link to current students on this page.

Our students receive individual attention from the co-directors of the MD/PhD Program and other faculty members. SUNY Upstate works diligently to be sure each student receives assistance whether it be academic advising, help with scheduling, selecting a laboratory, or figuring out finances. Visiting applicants cited the friendliness of students and staff as one of our most appealing features.

Research Interests

I joined the MD/PhD program at Upstate in 2016. Prior to coming to Syracuse, I graduated from Yale with a BS in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. I had always wanted to become a physician, but it wasn't until later that I realized that combining my interests in medicine and research was a possibility. Ideally, I'd want my work in the clinic and lab to inform each other and translate to advancements in patient care. Last summer I rotated in the Feng lab in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department.

When I visited Upstate, I loved the friendly, welcoming environment and I'm excited to get to know the city and the people better. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, photography, knitting, and various other non-athletic activities.
