Our students receive individual attention from the director of the MD/PhD Program and other faculty members. SUNY Upstate works diligently to be sure each student receives assistance whether it be academic advising, help with scheduling, selecting a laboratory, or figuring out finances. Visiting applicants cited the friendliness of students and staff as one of our most appealing features.

Research Interests

I moved from Canada in 2015 to become Upstate’s newest international MD/PhD student. After completing both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees focused on organic chemistry at McGill, I decided to take my chemical intuition and see what it might be worth in a more biologically oriented field. I chose Upstate because of their openness to international students, growing medical scientist program, and unwavering commitment to supporting students. That said, I wouldn’t have been able to attend if it weren’t for Syracuse’s frigid winters, to keep my Canadian bones from melting. My extracurricular activities range from volunteering and entrepreneurship to rock-climbing and pole-dancing, but any and all of these will always play second fiddle to visiting old places and eating new stuff.
