Medication shows promise in preventing RSV, a sometimes deadly infection, in babies

Respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, causes mild, coldlike symptoms for most children, but it can be deadly, and is the chief cause of hospitalization for children 5 and under. Joe Domachowske, MD, tells about clinical trials he has led at Upstate on an RSV prevention medication. He is a pediatric infectious disease specialist and professor of microbiology and immunology at Upstate.  Much of his research in recent years has been on RSV prevention.
