Exercise study seeks women in first trimester of pregnancy

Physical activity during pregnancy can be beneficial for both mother and baby. Danielle Marino is investigating which exercise approach is best. She is a doctor of physical therapy and a postdoctoral associate in the department of physical therapy education at Upstate. Her project, SPROUT -- short for Starting Pregnancy with Robustness for Optimal Upward Trajectories -- compares mothers-to-be who participate in supervised group exercise with those who exercise at home. Women who volunteer for the study receive a fitness smartwatch to track their heart rate and sleep. Learn more by emailing Marino at [email protected] or calling 315-481-6013.
