Children 11 and younger are sought for COVID-19 vaccine trial

Researchers at Upstate are seeking healthy children from 6 months to 11 years old to volunteer for a COVID-19 vaccine trial. Principal investigator Joe Domachowske, MD, explains how the trial will work and what volunteers can expect. Domachowske is a professor of pediatrics, and microbiology and immunology, at Upstate Medical University, and he specializes in pediatric infectious diseases at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

To volunteer or learn more about the trial, call 315-706-5636 or send an email to domachoj@upstate.edu. Adults and, separately, 12- to 15-year-olds have already taken part in vaccine clinical trials at Upstate. Domachowske also speaks about the multisystem inflammatory disease that affects a small percentage of children with COVID-19, and new variants of the coronavirus.
