'Food Is Medicine' course brings nutrition education to medical students
A new elective course at Upstate Medical University teaches medical students about how food affects health. Natalie Antosh, a fourth-year medical student who helped create the course, notes that nutrition education is often lacking in U.S. medical schools. She explains the problem of food insecurity, which is addressed in the course, as are cooking, the role of registered dietitian nutritionists and how diet relates to health.
