Are you at risk for a hereditary cancer?
Some types of cancer can be traced to genetic mutations that run in families. Oncologists who specialize in genetic counseling, such as Upstate's Gloria Morris, MD, PhD, are able to discuss genetic risk with concerned family members and provide genetic testing if warranted. She talks about some types of breast cancers, gynecological cancers, kidney cancers and colon cancers that tend to run in families and what patients can expect if they meet with a genetic counselor.
