Thomas Bersani, MD, took his first medical mission trip to Honduras 28 years ago. Robert Weisenthal, MD, joined him the following year, and the two ophthalmologists have been back nearly every year since. They travel to LaCeiba, Honduras with teams of volunteers to provide a variety of surgeries and medical care. Most of the expenses are paid for by the doctors, who established a nonprofit called Honduras Eye & Life Program, or HELP.
