Hospital Information Systems

The Hospital Information Systems (HIS) department provides an array of services that support enterprise and departmental computer systems for University Hospital and its affiliated clinics.


Services offered by the HIS department and its staff include:

  • Planning for information system software needs and related budgetary requirements
  • Project Management for large-scale computer system implementations
  • Evaluation of enterprise and departmental software solutions
  • Analysis of business needs and information system requirements
  • Design of databases, screens, documents, reports and processes
  • Installation of application software, patches and regulatory updates
  • Programming and development of application software
  • Testing of computer software to validate performance against design specifications
  • Documentation, including preparation of user manuals/procedures and system documentation
  • Maintenance of programs and data files to correct software defects or provide enhanced function
  • Support for users of HIS applications, including second-level support for Help Desk issues
  • Conversion and migration of data and applications from one platform to another
  • Security Administration for HIS user accounts and permissions

The Hospital Information Systems staff works closely with IMT's Customer Support and Operations and Networking Services departments to provide comprehensive 24-7 support for the hospital's mission-critical computer applications.
