Pandemic creates additional challenges for those being treated for substance use

The COVID-19 pandemic, with its stresses and abrupt changes, might create conditions that threaten the recovery of people being treated for their use of alcohol or other drugs. Psychiatric nurse practitioner John Ringhisen from Upstate's Addiction and Pain Service explains how caregivers continue to provide tele-health appointments and in-person appointments during the outbreak. He also talks about the risks of using tobacco products and/or alcohol, especially now.
