Upstate doctor went to Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian to provide medical relief

Watching television coverage of people seeking refuge from Hurricane Dorian, David Lehmann, MDPharmD, decided to help. He contacted International Relief, an organization with which he previously took part in medical relief missions, and about a week later he was en route to the Bahamas. There, he was part of a medical team that provided care to 1,500 hurricane refugees over the course of a week. The volunteers carried their own gear and food, along with medications and medical supplies. Lehmann is a distinguished professor of medicine at Upstate who launched Housecalls for the Homeless to provide medical care to homeless people in Syracuse.
