Many medical advances have come from battlefields, from infection control and methods of treating blood loss to the ambulance transport system. Patrick Basile, MD, an Upstate graduate who served in the Navy, talks about these advances, what might be on the horizon and his experiences caring for wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Basile is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon practicing in Florida.
