When a new street drug appears, specialists at the Upstate New York Poison Center in Syracuse will be asked for advice on how to treat patients who experience addiction, overdose or withdrawal. Poison Center doctors of pharmacy Jeanna Marraffa and Christine Stork talk about tianeptine and kratom and where these and other drugs fit into the continuing crisis of opioid abuse. They also talk about synthetic marijuana and edible marijuana products. The public may call the Poison Center toll free 24 hours a day with questions about drugs or possible poisonings at 800-222-1222.
