Rehabilitation after spinal cord injury - and a device that helps certain patients regain mobility

Gizelda Casella, MDGizelda Casella, MD, PhD, an Upstate physiatrist with expertise in spinal cord injury, talks about rehabilitation for spinal cord injury and how a mechanical aid, the exoskeleton-assisted walking device, can help certain patients. This device can offer mobility to some people who have lost the ability to walk on their own. She also explains that trauma and a variety of diseases can cause spinal cord damage, which may lead to balance problems, weakness, difficulty with bladder or bowel control, pain or a loss of sensation and movement.
