Clinical Interests

  • Dr. Yazdanyar is a vitreoretinal specialist at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He received his Ophthalmology and PhD training at SUNY Downstate Medical School, where his research explored the role of lipoprotein metabolism in cardiovascular and retinal diseases. Following residency, he completed a 2-year fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at University of California, Davis Health, where he spearheaded a research study to investigate the therapeutic role of bone marrow derived hematopoietic stem cells in treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

    As a vitreoretinal surgeon at SUNY Upstate, Dr. Yazdanyar is devoted to providing the best and latest surgical and medical management of all vitreoretinal disorders, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular conditions, retinal detachments, retinal degenerations, and macular diseases such as epiretinal membranes and macular holes.

  • Role of Lipoprotein metabolism in pathophysiology of age-related macular degeneration, drusen formation, geographic atrophy and diabetic retinopathy
