Description of Research Project:
I work with Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV). Apparently most of us are having HCMV for years without being sick or showing symptoms. HCMV manipulates host factors to remain silent and escape immune detection. However, this virus can reactivate and lead to deadly diseases if someone becomes immunocompromised or undergoes chemotherapy or transplantation. My research is focused on how HCMV manipulates host system to survive and disseminate within the host.
