The 3MT Competition is an opportunity for graduate students to present their dissertation research findings to a general audience in only THREE MINUTES with only one PowerPoint slide.
The goal is for students to use their communication skills to make their research vivid and engaging while emphasizing key points without jargon.
Winners will be awarded a monetary award and a certificate.

Important Rules to Follow:
- A single static PowerPoint slide is permitted.
- No slide transitions, animations or 'movement' of any description are allowed.
- The slide is to be presented from the beginning of the oration.
- No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted.
- No additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment) are permitted.
- Presentations are limited to 3 minutes maximum and competitors exceeding 3 minutes are disqualified.
- Presentations are to be spoken word (e.g. no poems, raps or songs).
- Presentations are to commence from the stage.
- Presentations are considered to have commenced when a presenter starts their presentation through either movement or speech.
- The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.
Not following the rules will disqualify you.
How to Register:
We ask that you please register if you are just attending and not presenting (helps us know numbers). If you end up just showing up to watch, that is fine to.
If you are presenting you must register. Once registered you will need to send me your PowerPoint one- week prior to the program, deadline October 25, 2023 by 4 p.m.
