Upstate Golisano will not be offering a Child Life Internship in Spring 2021. At this time, we plan to continue to offer a Child Life Practicum.
Child Life Practicum
This entry-level training, offered three times a year, is intended to introduce the undergraduate student to child life as well as the variety of experiences facing children and adolescents in a healthcare setting. A certified child life specialist (CCLS) will supervise the student as he or she participates in individual and group activities with children and families.

Qualifications
Practicum students must have completed core curriculum, including child development course work, and must have demonstrated successful experiences with children. Child Life students must have taken Intro to Child Life course and completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work within a Child Life program. This type of training is highly recommended for those students considering a career a child life specialist. Practicum students must complete 10 hours per week for a minimum of 100 total hours.- Please submit completed application along with your resume and cover letter.

Internship Accredited by ACLP since 2017
Child Life Internship
Twice a year, for 15 weeks, our Child Life Program offers comprehensive internship training to qualified students currently enrolled in an academic program in Child Life or a related field. These are full time 40 hours a week training positions with sessions beginning in January, and September.

Qualifications
To be an eligible candidate, you must possess:
- Core curriculum classes in child life
- Student or work experience with children in group settings
- Experience working with children and Child Life in an established Child Life Practicum, minimum of 100 hours
- Knowledge of psychosocial issues related to illness and hospitalization
- Student must be enrolled in an academic program; we do not accept independent students
- Please complete the Common Child Life Internship application and submit with a minimum of 3 professional references using the common recommendation form, a copy of unofficial transcripts, your resume and cover letter.
