Standing Committees

Standing Committees report to and discuss with the Medical College Assembly Executive Committee (MCAEC) issues, concerns, and plans expressed by the Faculty, and they bring information and suggestions to the MCAEC for discussion. They also work on issues that are referred to them by the MCAEC or its Officers. They request information and reports from, and provide suggestions to, the Dean of the College, appropriate administration-appointed committees, and other administrative officers related to any matter affecting the College.

College of Medicine faculty may contact Committee members directly with concerns or questions or they may contact MCAEC Officers.

 

Faculty Affairs

The Faculty Affairs Committee addresses concerns of the Faculty and Administration and formulates advisory statements consistent with the beliefs of the Faculty. These concerns may include faculty development, tenure and promotion standards, departmental and College leadership, faculty and administration evaluation standards, professionalism, and labor.

Academic Affairs

The Academic Affairs Committee addresses concerns of the Faculty and Administration related to academic affairs of the College of Medicine (COM). These concerns may include  student affairs, graduation requirements, remediation standards, accreditation issues, access to education, and the interface with graduate medical education. The Academic Affairs Committee will formulate advisory statements consistent with the beliefs of the Faculty.

College Affairs

The College Affairs Committee addresses concerns of the Faculty and Administration related to procedure and operations of the Medical College Assembly (MCA) and the COM. These concerns may include governance issues, MCA nominations/elections, MCA bylaws review, and faculty work space (lab/classroom/simulation). The College Affairs Committee will formulate advisory statements consistent with the beliefs of the Faculty.
