Hazmat for the First Receiver Awareness Training

Per Policy M-04,Mandatory and Staff Education, all emergency department nursing staff, hospital clinical technicians,unit support technicians and hospital attendants are required to complete the one-time, 4-hour awareness level training upon hire via Brightspace. The Tracker code for this training is HAZMATBB.

Hazmat Awareness

Only patient access, University Police Department, ambassadors and public safety staff members should upon hire and annually, complete hazmat awareness level training via Brightspace. The Tracker code for this training is HAZMATTR.

Hazmat for the First Receiver Operations Training

Per Policy M-04, Mandatory and Staff Education, all emergency department nursing staff, hospital clinical technicians, unit support technicians and hospital attendants are required to complete the 4-hour operations level training within the first year of hire. The Tracker code for this training is HAZMATDECON. Employees should sign up for a session via Tracker.

Hazmat for the First Receiver Operations REFRESHER Training

Per Policy M-04, Mandatory and Staff Education, all emergency department nursing staff, hospital clinical technicians, unit support technicians and hospital attendants are required to complete the 4-hour operations level training once per year, following the initial year of hire, in order to maintain competency. The Tracker code for this training is HAZMATREFRESHER. Employees should sign up for a session via Tracker.

Hazmat Required Training Outline

Emergency Department RN Unit Leader Training

This annual Brightspace training is targeted for Emergency Department RNs who have been selected by ED nursing leadership to serve as a Unit Leader during a mass casualty incident (MCI) involving hazardous materials. This position specific training should be reviewed annually. The Tracker code for this training is UNITLEADERHICS. 

Decontamination of Special Needs Populations

Decontamination exercise provides guidance in the safe and effective management of patients with special needs related to mobility, hearing or speech, language, etc. The importance of staff training, signage, communication, and use of adaptive equipment are highlighted. Watch Video.
