Fire and Travel Safety Tips

  • In event of a fire, remember the acronym R.A.C.E. Rescue or relocate endangered people to a safe place Activate the fire alarm system and call emergency number
  • Give fire location
  • Stay on the phone do not hang up. Contain fire by closing all doors and any open windows Evacuate Or Extinguish (if trained)
  • Evacuate the area as quickly as possible
  • Extinguish the flames with extinguisher if trained

Travel Safety: Car Emergency Kit

In case you are stranded, keep a kit of emergency supplies in your car.
  • Cellular phone. (Keep a car charger device that plugs into the cigarette lighter or other power point in the car in your kit to charge the battery of your cell phone)
  • Battery powered radio with extra batteries
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Flares
  • Winter hat, gloves, scarf
  • Blanket or sleeping bag
  • Jumper cables
  • Tire repair kit and pump
  • Extra fuses
  • Tool kit, including shovel, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, socket wrenches
  • Duct tape
  • Fire extinguisher (small canister, ABC type)
  • First aid kit and manual
  • Road maps
  • Bottles of water
  • Non-perishable high-energy foods, such as granola bars, raisins and peanut butter
